I am looking into getting a E55, I was wondering which year is the best. 2003,2004, 2005 or 2006. I want to know which is the best and why. I also need to know which year to stay away from. I know that usually the first year a new model is introduced there are bugs to be worked out. Thanks for the info.
The later cars have a couple of improvements over the earlier cars like upgraded supercharger clutch and steering rack (late '05's and '06 cars). You'll also usually find more options on the later cars. I would stay away from the pano roof because of creaking/rattling being a pretty common problem, and both front and rear shades must be fully open before you can tilt open the roof. For the weight penalty and cost VS the standard sunroof, I wouldn't get that again. I find drive dynamic seats, xenons, keyless go, bluetooth, and linguatronic (voice command), "must haves" for me. Parktronic, distronic, and the power trunk closer I could live without. Whatever you get, buy a warranty, you're probably going to use it and these cars are $$$ to work on.
