2004 E55 IPhone bluetooth puck with tail works!
Mercedes Benz Part number # B 67 87 58 55 (puck with tail) $365 to $488 plus what ever the dealer charges to program (Star) phone present (but leave teleaid off), and it works.
I have not found any functions that do not work.
Make calls.
Receive calls.
Caller ID.
Incoming number/name appearers in command display and MFD and call timer.
Phone book downloads.
Controls on steering wheel work.
Keeps last number and recent too.
Command key pad works.
Bluetooth puck paired when door is open and will sleep when phone out of range.
I am 100% satisfied

Later I had BiXenon lights installed and needed them version coded, so I went to my dealer and before the work started I went to the parts department and asked if they had the puck in stock, they did. I asked how much they said $488 as they just had a price increase. I told them, as I presented the E-Bay listing I would pay no more than $380 and that was contingent on the blue tooth working and downloading the phone book. pass or play. They said no, I turned around and went to the service area to get started on the version coding for my Bi Xenons and by the time I got there, the SA told me the parts manager called him and said yes to my deal. $380. plus $50. for the coding. It was installed and as we powered it up 5 techs, 2 SAs, 3 sales guys, were all standing around to see if it worked, and it did. I think they wanted to know as much as I did. I am happy with it only thing that I have not tried is the text msg. But I don't do much texting.
I just bought the "puck w/tail" with the part number listed in this post. I don't know who was more excited, me or the service guy. Unfortunately it didn't work and the service shop was just closing down. He says the software has to be updated. Now I have to wait til next week. I'll keep you posted...
Hi guys
Australia here. Is the iPhone the original 2.5G or the newer 3G one? 3G phones in australia (eg nokia e51, samsung blackjack) only bluetooth to the puck with tail (HFP) but can't download the phonebook (even with sim access profile on). Any ideas solutions welcome.

You have the wrong puck. HFP is for phones which are NOT Nokia. You need the SAP puck which is the one with a F1-racing design and blue led's.
