2005 E55: to buy or not to buy, that is the question

This is my first posting on this board; I'm not terribly familiar w/ which is the "best" board for the E55/CLS55's, but this one appears to be pretty reputable and hopefully objective.

In any case, I recently sold an RS6, have decided against buying a M5, and now am debating whether or not to buy a 2005-06 E55/CLS55. Having sold the RS6, which was otherwise a fine high-performance car but unreliable, lack of parts availability, untrained techs at the dealerships in the US who could diagnose or 'sservice the car, Audi of Americas poor attitude re their RS6 owners problems, I am rather reticent about buying a MB (given its poor build quality, rebialibity reputation, deserved or not), and especially what build quality, servicabilty and reliability problems actual owners like yourselves have encountered and how they have been solved. This car would be my daily driver in a generally warm climate in Texas.
Any comments or advise would be much appreciated.

'03 and '04's had some the small bugs that have probabley been worked out, although nothing that would make me pass up a great deal as long as it was still under warranty. you should be good with an '05 and golden in an '06.

Get the VIN number of the car you like and ask the SA at your local dealer to run it.
The service history will likely provide you with go/no go decision comfort.

If the car is privately owned, ask the owner to alert your SA that's it's okay to run the history.
