Having trouble with soft top hydraulic mechanism which is leaking badly from pump and the other bits . Has anybody ever , or can these ( pump and pistons )be reconditioned, or do you have to buy the expensive new ones which cost more in total than I paid for the car in the first place.

I can repair your hydraulic cylinders on your W124 for $30 each + $10 total shipping charges (actual shipping charges for overseas customers). If you look in the R129 SL forum on this site you will find some feedback from some of the folks I've done work for.
I've been looking for a donor hydraulic pump to open up to see if they can have new seals put in to fix a leaking pump.
