Ouch... that makes me want to cry.

But, it's not quite as bad as the smashed up E55 I saw at my dealer last month. Looked like the thing had hit a wall at 50 mph. The engine, dashboard, firewall and fenders were all removed... it was quite disturbing. It had I think 1400 miles on it.

The blown engine scenario seems to be a scary one. I was at Pocono in May for the AMG challenge with approximately 30 V-8 compressor cars with less than 200 miles on the clock and they all performed flawlessly with severe abuse. Sorry to hear of your misfortune with a rod through the side of the block.

Though the AMG cars are all handcrafted masterpieces, I've been hearing alot of bad reports on the newer engines.

Is Mercedes making the AMG boys & girls rush the engines to keep up with the orders or something?

AMG! I'm sorry to see what happened to your car,.. if it were me I'd be PISSED!!!

DEALER replaced everything. no questions asked.it took forever but they got it done.

I've heard of others blowing(sl's also) and bob at renntech told me its a heat problem and bad castings

anyone with a mod'ed amg get a cooling kit also!

My dealsership totaled my '05 E55 with 1500 miles on it. Where did you see the one mentioned in your post?
