drove the CL 65 today and...

HOLY SMOKES!!! i have to think that it will make our e55's look like they are towing a 30 foot boat in a drag race. NO JOKE it was the fastest thing i have ever been in much less driven.it screams i hit 100 in i swear it felt like under 8 seconds. it was black and the wheels are to die for...but man it is 100k more than my e55 plus a 30k premium ouch...is it worth it? i have to think so. what a tremendous vehicle!

RE: drove the CL 65 today and...

You lucky dog!! My local MB dealer has one also... In fact it's their 2nd one. THey are asking 240K for it. Sad thing is, it looks just like the lower-end CL models; the only dead giveaway is the V12 biturbo logo on the fenders.

BUT: I'd almost kill for a chance to drive one! I'd love to see just how much faster it is, for myself. The first one that my dealer sold, was sold to a really old guy... He must have been about 80 or so, and was so fragile that he had to have a salesman help him OUT of the seat. I was thinking, "this poor guy's gonna break his neck if he hits the gas too hard"... later I discovered he bought the car solely because his accountant said it would lower his taxes. It's almost sad to see such a wonderful car fall into the hands of somebody who will likely never enjoy it or even drive it.

I would say the car is marginally worth the price... but for that price range, I'm opting for the new Aston DB9. The dealership will have one for display, and possibly a test drive, at the end of the month. It's so similar to the Vanquish, which was the most awesome thing I've ever driven (no offense to the E55 but...) so who knows... I think my driveway would look good with a DB9 in it!

My MB dealer is supposed to be getting an SLR real soon... the one Donald Trump ordered. THAT, I'd like to see...

RE: drove the CL 65 today and...

The 65's figures are not too far off theose of the 600 & 55. I checked out a 65 a few days back and I have to report that it felt a fraction quicker than a stock 600 biturbo.

The dealer has assured me that my tuned/unrestricted 600 biturbo is still faster than the 65 with the mods they have done. But I'm not 100% convinced. Maybe it's time I hunt down a 65 and go head to head.

Easier said than done[;)]

That may be true, but we're waiting for Renntech to release their ECU for the 65 when someone makes a transmission and read end to handle the full power of the plant. I've heard 10-12% increase in torque and hp.
