Friday May 7th at Pocono International Racetrack. I don't think the people at MB follow any type of break in process , as all the cars there were brand new , & thrashed about the circuit lap after lap at FULL speed. What a great day , if you have the chance to attend I highly recommend taking this course. I had the pleasure of lapping with Derek Bell in the E55 with 9 other cars on track , what a treat . They also had 2 maybacks on the track , the smaller one was doing hot laps with no problems. The larger was just for show. I think the show goes next to Miami & then to Dallas .
RE: Just Returned from AMG challenge graduate program
Wow, that sounds like a MUST see. By the way about the break in you mentioned, i found in another forum a guy claiming no necessary break in required for new AMG cars. This is interesting but it contradicts the manual though. Here is the link http://forums.beyond.ca/showthread.php?threadid=43504
What do you guys think?
I also took my car for an oil change since i already reached 1000 miles (following Nobr's advice which is great) and when i picked it up from the dealer I asked the service guy who said he has been working for mercedes for 30 years and now is a senior technician there if this thing about the break in is true about the new AMG cars and he claimed that it definitely is but they just RECOMMEND in the manual to take it easy but is not necessary as AMG already runs every single engine before cars are imported.

I wanted to do the AMG challenge, but my car did not arrive until 3 weeks after the event was held in Fontana,CA. Maybe I can go to Dallas in June. Anyone with an E55 track your car? I'm talking about road racing, not drag racing.

You don't need to bring a car for the challenge. They give you over 40 different AMGs to sample all day to drive like you stole em...and on the track too.
