Hidden Gems on the E Class (Features most not aware of)
I used to check the MBCanada forum site which has disappeared. But the one post that i regret not printing was the one with features that are not known to many and not printed anywhere either. Below is an example. If you know of any, please add to this and maybe we could have a pretty good collection which could be used by all of us.
Scenario. Your window's half open. Passenger fully open. Moonroof (on tilt), rear passengers open just a bit. You see a smoke cloud ahead and don't want it to enter the car. Hold down the "Recirculate (Car with circle button on Climate control)" button for a couple of seconds and all windows and roof closes. But that's not the gem. Once you're out of the area, hold down the same "Recirculate" button again and all windows and roof return to their original positions prior to closing it.
I tried it and it's neat. Hope I see some more

2. At least on Canadian cars with DRL, if you have delayed headlights shut off programmed, you can override this feature by turning the light switch to the Off position from the Auto position.
3. For those with DVD COMAND, CD Text is compatible!
4. For those with Dynamic seats, whether the pulse 'massage' is on or off by default can be programmed into the seat memory. Just turn it on or off then press the memory button (M) with the memory recall (1, 2 or 3 button).
Press and *hold* the gear selector lever in the D- direction.
The transmission will automatically select the gear range suited for optimal acceleration and deceleration. This will involve shifting down one or more gears.
I have an 03 not an 04. So it being the same hardware, I guess it would require a software upgrade to display CD-text. Am i correct ?? I'm going to ask this of my Service Rep.
I think perhaps you got the direction wrong. If you push it to the right towards "+" and hold it, it will go int "Auto", but if you pull it to the left twards the "-" sign and hold it for 2 secs (or less), it automatically selects optimum gear.
