Can some one please tell me the following -- This is for a 2004 E320:
1. Where is the K40 Relay located?
a. Engine compartment fuse boxes
b. Drv side fuse box?
c. Trunk fuse box?
2. What other name is associated with K40 because I can not find "K40" string
on the fuse map.
3. If the relay is bad, where is the best place to get one?
4. Approx how much does it cost?
My car will not start. No crank, no start. So I took it to the dealer. The dealer said they can not communicate with the ECM so the ECM is bad. It will cost me $2500.
I took the ECM out and sent it for testing to a couple of different places. One place confirmed the dealer's findings. The other place said my ECM is perfectly fine and they were able to bench test it. They think it is a power issue and that K40 controls power to the ECM so check the K40.
As a result, I posted this thread about the K40. I am not even able to find k40 in the fuse charts. Maybe the k40 is the starter relay?
K40 is w210 stuff... it is sets of relays like said, and w211 has not it. But w211 relays are found in drivers side sam like also already shown check them all. Might be starter relay or circuit 30 relay... also check all fuses, also in passenger footwell (pre fuse box)
Doing some online search, it appears that "K40" is used on older MB models; W210 and W171, up to the year 2002, referencing a group of fuses and relays.
Did you figure out what was wrong with your car I have a 2008 e350 doing the exact same thing
