So, I have 2 W211 wagons. One is a 2005 and the other is a 2009. Both have the airbag-type SLS. The 2005 has 123,656 miles and the 2009 has 122,000 miles.
One year ago, the SLS airbags on the 2005 failed. No amount of the air compressor's running would pump them up, and I replaced them with Arnott airbags. The mileage? 121,518.
Two weeks ago, the SLS airbags on the 2009 failed, in almost EXACTLY the same manner as the 2005's did. The mileage? 122,000. The replacement Arnotts arrived this past Friday.
This is probably just pure coincidence, but the SLS on both cars failed within 500 miles of each other!
Thoughts? Do others have them failing at the 120,XXX mark like mine?
