Wagon 320 shock absorbers - which one?

Hi all,

I have a E320 Avantgarde with automatic rear self leveling only (no airmatic).

I am very confused over which shock absorbers to replace with.
Mine are leaking oil, both of them. SO i have to replace them.
Also, the AIR struts needs replacing.

SO, I have bought arnotts coil conversion kit.

When converting to coil springs instead of air struts, I want to replace the shock absorbers as well.

Which ones should I buy?
The ones on my car looks like the attachment. What is the cylindrical shape on the side for? And what is the electrical connection for?

Can I replace with the other attachment image (monroe) simple-looking shocks?

Please help me.

Without knowing specifically I'd say it's some sort of inflator assembly. If there is an electrical connection on the old shock that's probably what it's for. I,would not, recommend replacing the shocks, with other than the actual replacement. If the Monroe shocks don't have the electrical connector or the cylinder on the side don't do it.
