Hello All,
I have a 2005 E500 wagon, VIN WDBUH83J6X172303. I am looking for the OEM rear mud guards. I gave this information to my local dealer and the front set fit perfectly, but the rears are incorrect. Does anyone know of a source for these, or possibly a set to sell. I'm just trying to help preserve my paint on the old girl, but I don't want a generic set that doesn't look "factory". Any ideas or direction would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
Best,
Rick
Still can't get correct part; Dealer told me flat out that, "something is wrong with your bumper, because these should fit"
2005 E500 4Matic Wagon. Stock body work. I am second owner of this car. VIN: WDBUH83J65X172303.
Attached are the pictures of what my dealer has tried and some pictures of the bumper/mounting area. I am at a loss. The fronts fit perfectly, but I can't seem to find the rears. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
When I told him to look up part number:66528216, he told me that was for an S Class Sedan... I believe you over this guy anyday. Can you direct me to a dealer that actually has a parts department that will actually take my money for the parts I need? When I asked him if he had any ideas on getting the right parts, he said I should sell the piece of crap and buy a Chevy.
You are correct that Konigstiger got it right. Here is a link a to a good priced online seller of genuine MB parts. They are $65 and their fit list shows almost all of the W211s.
Customer service is dead, and this guy is the grave marker!!! Thanks for the link and advice!
Price was $75 with shipping. Local dick was $108.00 and now I have to wait for my refund until he gets approval from the parts manager...
I keep lots of notes and I have a note of giving him my VIN # TWICE and he order the wrong parts. There should be now question that I am due a refund, but since I don't want to end up in jail today, I'm giving him 24 hours.
All this for mud flaps! When the time comes for the replacement Benz, I will not be shopping at this dealership.
Thanks Konigstiger and Noodles! You guys are awesome and I greatly appreciate all your help!!

You sure have that right. He has the tools at the parts desk computer to check what they fit. However he thinks he knows more than any customer that already gave him the correct info. I used to fire idiots like that when I was a parts and service director at import dealerships.
If you have already returned the parts and not gotten a refund give them one friendly reminder. Then hoping you paid with a credit card so if they jerk you around you just tell the credit card company to do a charge back on the dealership. Sorry you had to jump through so many hoops.
Konigstiger gets the credit for finding the correct flaps. He is amazing at helping members. All I did was find a place with a good price and a list that showed they will work with your car.
Please post back once get the ones will fit to let us know they worked/fit. I don't have them on mine, and would love to add them. So if they work out I will be right behind you getting a pair for my wagon.
Thanks to all of you, I located a very helpful dealership online who is getting me the correct parts. They found 1 set in the USA, but if they can't get those, it will take a week to 10 days to get them from Germany.
So I took a run up to my local dealer, who was less than helpful, looking for my refund on the wrong parts. This is why MBZ Dealers get the reputation that some of them have; My refund was approved, since it was their fault for getting the wrong parts, even when I supplied the VIN number. However, it will take 2 WEEKS to cut a check for the refund and it will be mailed to my address on file! 2 WEEKS to get my money back on a mistake THEY made! It's not the money at this point, it's the ridiculous hoops they make you jump through to correct their mistake. I was less than pleased, but I maintained my composure because my brother is an indie tech who buys parts from them( one of these dealers that sells 15 brands) and I didn't want to make life hard on him, but WTF???
I really try to shop in my backyard, you know, keep the business local. Well that's the last time I will set foot in that dealership.
What a ridiculously stupid way to treat customers and all of this over a set of mudflaps!! I will be called MBUSA tomorrow morning and explaining this fiasco to them.
10 days to get my refund... 10 DAYS. For an order they screwed up twice!!! So for my trouble, after asking to speak to the parts department manager, I got a free litre of Mercedes OEM window washer fluid!!!
I really do love Mercedes and yes, I will probably buy another one, but their customer service department needs a refresher course. I know it's not a new S class, but I'm trying to spend my hard earned money with a local dealer and i get treated like a second class citizen.
And for what it's worth, I give my VIN# every time, whether it's online or in person or at AutoPart international. It's cheap insurance that if the part is wrong, I have something to fall back on and tell them that I gave them the VIN, so they ordered the wrong part.
I'll let you know if my new washer fluid makes my car faster... (this stuff is $12.99 a liter! Yes, you mix with water to make a gallon, but $12.99??)
Thanks Noodles, I will be sure to mix properly and even go a little on the conservative side. Do not need a cracked tank of bursting lines! I have to say, I am really anxious to try this stuff after reading all of the comments is found while researching for BWorld member experiences.I'm going to drain the other stuff (rain x) tonight and transfer to the girlfriends car...
