AMG Steering Wheel with F1 Transmission switch for W211?

Hi,

I have a 2004 w211 e270cdi avantgarde and I want to replace my old steering wheel to the facelift AMG model steering wheel which have transmisson switches on it. Its a full complete steering wheel incl. airbag also.
Can I replace it with plug&play? Transmission switches should work also?
Need Star diag or any computer program to use it?

Thanks

You can swap it but for the paddle shifters to work you need SDS to do some coding changes that tells the car that it has paddle shifters too. There is a thread around that explains how to install them if you do not have them on your car because you can buy shifters from the dealer. Look at this:

I appreciate your response, but is there a different thread you were referring to? That thread basically says it's possible and then has 15 people asking how - with no response or instructions. I would be interested if it's possible and not TOO much in cost.
