Battery symbol on dash board?

Hello All,

I have a 2006 E350 with 50K miles, today the battery symbol show up on dash board, the car still start fine. it's time to replace the battery, and can I buy it at local shop?

Hope this just the battery and nothing major.

Thanks for any feedback

Is that a facelift or pre-facelift W211? If you follow the above post and buy a new battery, you should know if it is the AUX battery (most likely if the car starts well) or the main battery.

I dont quite understand facelift or pre-facelift W211?

I checked the voltage on both battery as follow:

car not running

AUX 12.26 & Battery 12.27

car running

AUX 14.28 & Battery 14.28

Now I dont see the symbol show up on dash board any more, this is really strange

Thanks

I understand now that you have a pre-facelift W211. You should check the battery after the car has been parked for some time (over night), before you switch ignition on or at least before you start the engine, preferably at the event you see the battery warning.

Now you have checked that the AUX battery relay seems to be fine. The AUX battery is not completely dead but either one could be bad.

I'm having the same issue with my 2006 E350. I replaced the main battery yesterday, took it for a short drive (5 miles+) and everything seemed fine. But this morning, the battery warning light was on again. On restart, it went away. I guess it's the aux battery that's bad.

No local shop seems to carry it but I did find:

Is this the correct battery? Also, is there anything else I should check? I'm fairly handy with cars but we got this car not too long ago, used, so I haven't done anything aside from the wipers and now the battery.

Thanks,

Sears, Batteries Plus, Autozone, some Wal-Marts all have AGM sealed batteries that fit these cars
for a lot less money than the dealer. Just make sure you charge the AGM battery for a
few hours at 2 amps before installation for best results.

Following motorcycle batteries can potentially be used as AUX battery's replacement:

Walmart Everstart Maxx 14-BS AGM
Autozone/Delco GTX 14-BS
Sears CB12C-A
Interstate CYTX 14-BS (at local firestone)
YB12AL-A2 Xtreme AGM
Yacht CTX12-BS ETX-12/12BS

The key word is 'potential'. Do your own DD before purchasing one and make sure you are getting an AGM (VRLA) battery.
