Service Reset on 2006 E350

All,

I'm trying to figure out why I cannot get to the service menu on my 2006 E350 4-Matic. I know this topic has been discussed at great length and I have dutifully searched the forums and tried all the suggested methods to no avail. The most commonly suggested routine is the following:

1 key on #1 position
2 go to mph display in the cluster
3 press trip odometer knob three times (QUICK) voltage will appear on display
4 Select service menu using + or -
5 Service Indicator Displays Items
6 Press the menu systems button until the MPH display appears

This does not work for me at all. I have a feeling that the firmware on my system may have been flashed at the dealer at some point to disable this function.

Any thoughts appreciated.

-Dazed and Confused

I have a 2005 E320 and this worked like a champ. I don't know if it will work for 2006 but worth a try. The procedure is a little different than what you listed so here it is....
How to reset the Maintenance Service interval:
Set key to position 2
-Scroll to the customer display with the picture of a wrench and what service is due
-Press and hold the reset button for 5 seconds
-Service menu should come up
-scroll up and down using the + and - buttons on the steering wheel
-scroll to confirmation for service. (you have to confirm all items you cannot confirm some and not others)
-Confirm service and you should be all set.

I have heard some rumor that this feature was locked out in 2006 but others have had success. Give it a try.

The first time I tried it I kept getting bumped out of the system. I found this pdf with pictures and it worked like a champ.
Good Luck

I followed the instructions in the PDF file that I found and worked for my 2006 E350. I tried the same instruction today to reset the counter but didn't work. I guess it only works if the service notice comes on. In my case, I changed oil way before the notice but couldn't reset the counter.

OK. I'm a doofus. Checked again this morning and it works using the 3 quick push method. Now I just need to figure out what a "59M00000031" service is. Thanks.

OK. Just went through the menu again. When I start the car, I see "Service F exceeded by 214 Days". I believe that Service F is simply a indication of the amount of time needed for the service, in this case 5-6 hours of labor. When I enter the Service Menu to see what service needs to be performed, I see a cryptic 59M0000031 item is +214 days. What the heck is 59M00000031 ? I assume I need the service manual to figure that one out ?

It also works for me. But instead of going from Service F to Service G, it went back to service B.!!!???

Any help here ...?

You don't need to know what a 59M00000031 is. Evidently you've gotten into the "SERVICE DATA." The place you want to be is in "ITEMS," below that. Take a look at Pages 17-20 of this PDF, and I think things will be a little clearer:

FYI - I have a 2007 E350 (W211) and the Reset Instruction in your orig. thread worked.
Just make sure all doors are closed and the key is in Position 1 (that's the position where the Radio and Fan turns on but before all the engine lights come on the dash).
