How to change Headlights...

Okay,

I just had 3 quotes to install headlight... one place stated $55.00 another place stated they would do it for $85.00 per light. They also stated that they have found that the control unit in these have an issue so it could be the control unit and not just the headlight cause these bulbs typically last 10 years.

Mine is the 2003 Mercedes E500 sport. considering I always allow it to turn off via auto light setting and I have left the lights on over night or over weekend like 15 times... that is about right. Can someone direct me to instructions on doing the lights myself.

thanks

hope this helps

You will have to remove the entire front bumper to change the headlights.
Try these two links. that should help you.

d2s headlights

That is a bit much... you sure... Maybe I said it wrong. I just need to replace the bulbs in the headlight housing. I was told that I merely needed to pull them from the back of the housing and turning the bulb. I don't need to take the headlights out.

The voltage required to ignite a Xenon light is enough to kill you many times over. If you are going to venture into this task, I would get an account at alldatadiy.com Its pretty darn cheap for one year subscription. I am sure there are instructions on how to change the bulbs.

I have a 2003 e500 and recently had the bulb replaced...$20 including labor....which took about 5 minutes. I saw him just grab the bulb with his hand without taking anything apart ( passenger side front ). I think on the driver side front u would need to move the coolant or whatever box that is to reach the bulb.
