Gas cap loose, Service engine light

Was just at the dealer because my front passenger side airmatic shock failed and the loose gas cap warning, service engine light was on. I just purchased this car about a month ago, luckily it has the extended warranty so everything was covered. The service advisor said that they checked the gas cap and it was fine. The code for the service engine was P2013...major leak in the purge system. They say that they performed a fuel tank leak test and it was ok. He then said that it was a software problem and it was taken care of. Guess what, still have the same problem! Any ideas what it could be? I figured it would be a good idea to make a couple of suggestions to him when I bring it back. Thanks!!

Your profile states you have a 2000 E430 and this is the W211 forum ( 2003+ E-Class except for the wagon). In any event, a loose gas filler cap is more likely to cause a Check Engine Light on a W210 than what you are experiencing. The gaskets fail and this is a common complaint. Please clarify what car your are referring to because the answers you receive will depend on it.

Sorry about the car mix-up, like I said before I just got this car about a month ago. I have a 2000 W210 E430 Sport, and I just bought a 2004 W211 E500 4matic sport. My problem is with the W211.

I'm making an appointment to bring the car in this week. I'll post the outcome when I get it back.

Thanks,
Scott

Brought the car in on Sat. and a vacuum test was performed, and found a purge valve faulty. So it was replaced and hopefully the problem has been solved. The whole thing took about two hours.
