E320 Fuel economy drop

Wondering if there are any ideas as to why my fuel economy seems to have dropped off on my 03 E320. Got new Goodyear Eagles (HATE them) but also had let the air filter go for some time. Is there anything else that might be a factor?? bout 49k Miles......

What is your city/highway mileage figures??? All flat land or hilly driving??

17/27 sounds about average... not too high or too low.

Other questions would be the type of GAS? % Ethanol? (more = lower gas mileage)

Type of tires... too soft (more rolling resistance) will reduce gas mileage in city, but very little. The new Michelin MXV4 Primacy are now rated at 600 but are very hard and much noisier/thumpier than the older MXV4's.

The S (sport) setting of the Transmission is more aggressive, holding the upshift longer, reducing gas mileage VS. the C (comfort) setting which upshifts sooner.

and of course, your driving style... drive like you have an EGG under your right foot and the mileage will improve, but the driver's behind you will see RED!
