Question Noob iPod Integration W211 Kit?

Well im sick of using DVDs and CDS on my W211 with COMMAND, how do i go about installing an iPod Lead into the system? and how difficult is it? how much will it cost? I have tried using an iTrip but i'm fussy so i don't like the sound quality that it produces. I have heard about something called a DICE kit.

Also ( depending on what kit i use ) will the ipod be controllable from the Command Screen?

Did you check into the Mercedes OEM ipod integration kit? I have not, but have been reading a little about it. Curious if you checked into or heard anything about it? I have been plugging my iphone into the aux input in glovebox. But that's kind if a pain. I saw the OEM kit's were in the low $300 range. Also wonder if it's easy to do it yourself or better left to the dealer?

In addition to the factory iPOd integration kit there are several aftermarket options. Here are the ones I have found:

InCarTronics, the Leading Authority on Vehicle Electronics

Dension: Gateway 500

oPi-M MB-MOST - Product Information - iCarKits

MB-iAudio - Mercedes iPod Car Adapter, ipod car interface iPod Car Pros

And a great overview is here:

No I haven't. I have an iPhone, and as much as I am in and out of the car several times a day. I think that hooking it up each time is too much hassle.

I have an 03' E500, but I don't see an auxilary port in my glovebox. Does anyone know if my vehicle is supposed to have one? I have an iPhone and would love to plug it in without having to spring for an adapter kit right now.

Does Aux show up as a source on your head unit?

My aux port jack is at the top of the glove box and id recessed. I missed it the first couple of times I was looking for it.

No AUX source on my head unit. I guess I should have though of that; sometimes the most obvious clues go right over your head.

It's strange that some 03's have this option and some don't. I have a tape deck in mine, which is virtually usless to me, so it's just odd there isn't an aux port.

Time to buy an 09' I guess.

why not just get the old tape that plugs into your MP3 player via the headphone jack, there cheap like 5 bucks!!

its 100 times better that having a 20 FT extenstion cord going to your glove box(PITA)

they sell them infact if i had a tape deck i would be using that method
