open hood warning?

2004 E500 50k miles just started this weekend. Everytime I drive the car the open hood warning comes on. You can turn it off while driving but once you stop at a light and start again the light comes back on. I have opened the hood and closed it several times with no success. Anyone even know where the sensor is?

Well, the "hood open switch" would be under the hood. If I remember right, it is at the hood latch on the right side. There was recently another owner asking about the same issue, he/she did not come back to report if it was the switch or the plug loose or some wiring issue.

Its an alarm switch located on the passenger side of the front support frame.

Fixed it. The sensor switch is on the passenger side of the hood latch. The sensor fell down from its mounting enough to where when the hood was closed it could not contact the sensor. I pulled it back in place and all was good.

Well, in my opinion that is the right side of the vehicle, on a RHD car the passenger would be at the other side.

Anyway, very good to hear this feedback, likely turns useful for others (note that I don't even have this switch in my car). Sounds likely that the previous case was the same even it the owner never reported back.

CLK350 2009 Hood Warning Message

The hood open sensor/switch for a CLK350, Model Year 2009 is built into the DRIVERS SIDE hood latch(there are 2 latches for the hood, one on the passenger, one on the driver's side).

Just thought I would add this if anyone is looking.

As a new owner, I might also add the hood release is UNDER THE DASH, to the right of the brake release, and has a red handle. Never would have tried to pull on it without reading the manual. I don't think it is labeled, but if it is, it isn't very clear.

Fixed mine several times

I have a 2004 E500 with the same problem. The first time I fixed it the sensor stayed in place for several months. Now it lasts a few minutes before it slips off the frame that is meant to house it. I don't really want to glue it in place but that seems like the next step.
Anyone have any brighter ideas?

Well, typically either the retainer clips are a part of the switch, or the switch fits into a retainer. Assuming yours is the latter, why not just replace the switch? Door switches run about $6-$7 bucks, I doubt a hood switch is much more.
