Was in the garage yesterday and my car started making a sound that sounded like a trumpet making short blasts of about 1-2 seconds followed by silence followed by another blast for 1-2 seconds for about 5 or 6 times. What the h3ll is that?
Sound like it was coming from the rear...but i could not be sure before it stopped.
Seriously, what kind of a car is it? Does it have air suspension? Does it drive and ride OK? No warning lights? You gotta give us something to work with here so we can all pretend to be mechanics and guess what your problem is.

I thought i had added that to my profile...guess that was the other site. It's a 2005 e500 Sport (so, yes has air sus). 27K miles. Rides perfectly, no warning lights. This is the second time it has happened. The first time was several months ago, and I wasn't on any drugs then, however, it's so much fun to drive there's no telling what I might have run over

Mine does the same thing. I would say it is more of the tone of a clarinet tone however I hear it very often and my guess is that it is coming from the air suspension possibly from a check valve or something. I am quite sure there is nothing to worry about as my car has been doing for 21/2 years and nothing has happened
