I've got a 2003 E320 and I've been told (2) different stories from (2) different Benz dealers, one in Idaho and one in Southern California. The dealer in Idaho says I can't install the "Puck and Tail" to use to have Bluetooth. The dealer in California says no problem. I’ve read many of the threads and it appears that I should be able to connect the "Tail", connect my phone ( LG Chocolate) with some updates and be up and running. I’ve enclosed a picture of the connector beneath my arm rest with the question is this the plug that would connect to the tail. Any help would be appreciated.
Looks like you've taken too many parts out. There should be a connector at the left bottom area once the false door is removed. An RJ45 like (but 10 pin) connector. You can identify it also from wire colours (sorry but I did not go and find them but there are documents posted already).
Even the same year (2003) has their differences. I have a 2003 E320 and my wiring looks nothing like this one. I can tell you that YES, you should be able to install the Puck and Tail but, you will still have to take it to Mercedes for them to code the system to recognize the Puck and Tail. It is basically to tell the system that you now have the Puck system. I did it on mine at Princeton Mercedes in NJ and is working like a charm. On my E320 the Console wiring looks nothing like yours and I know that the Antenna Connector Looked like a COAX Connector (not that you need it). Do you have pictures of the Tail you will use?
If it was exactly like mine I would have been able to help you easily cause I did it on mine and I opened that console several times but like I said, unfortunately is not.

It does not have to be an MB workshop, anyone with SDS can do it. Of course all MB workshops can do it (or let's say have the equipment to do it ).
