ok guys im new to the forum but i will definitely begin to get involved ESPECIALLY after what happen to me... so near me there is a rim shop which also does auto repairs and body detailing you know minor touching up lip spoiler in my case exhaust.... well i go to this "shop" and although i KNOW it is wayyy nicer to have ure bumper cut for this or replaced and get true AMG exhausts my father is very against messing w. the car he wants it as STOCK as possible idk hes a little eh... on that topic lol any way... i go to this guy and tell him i would like to have a set of AMG duel looking tips installed onto me E500 04' now... i tell him i had a close friend that attempted installing them and they did not fit but he assured me they would fit... now... he tells me the tips in the window were reserved for someone, but he would order me a set and so i did... i return to the shop to pick them up because from what i ahve heard these are an easy install, now he offered to try to see if they fit incase they are wrong and they were wrong... he tells me he called his manufacturer and these are for e500 and the box says so too... he tells me free of charge because i payed for the tips already he will make them fit... we agree that he does not touch my stock exhaust and i tell him he can completely destroy the aftermarket tips if he thinks he can make them fit... he told me hes going to open up the end of the tips and then add a small bracket or peice of metal that would allow for them to b wider well... he tells me to leave the car for measuring and if i want to wait... i tell him can i watch the job he said no one is allowed in the shop :/ thus i leave the car and take off w. my frend he calls me that the job is ready after an hour... i arrive to see a HORRIBLE job when i mean horrible the left set of tips were not even close to straight and then tips were hanging about 2 inches off the bumper it looked soooo ricy and disgusting i told him to take them off on the spot i was completely embarrassed how degrading it looked he says fine we go to my car to look under to c where the bolts of the tips were to see his worker had actually welded them on and not used the bolts i was slightly pissed about this because i told him do not weld and defintely do NOT trim my exhaust... he tells me return tomm and he will un weld them... i return yesterday and we remove them took about 10 minutes i look behnd my bumper to c my stock muffle tips facing straight ass you all know on the e models they curve and face down and outward i tell the store owner i specificly told you not to cut my exhaust let aloen the welding so now he starts giving me excuses he didnt kno he didnt tell the worker and all this... i tell him look do me the favor weld on what u cut off and hopefully it wont look horrible or noticable at my next mercedes service appointment... now off to my issue he told me to go today he was not there and the guy who did the job was actually there and was telling me there still facing downward its not gunna void ure warranty im like hey this isnt your car thats ruined its mine so now im double F'd because i have to redo my service on my car and i dont think the dmv is going to fly with what it looks like + i have a mercedes apointment coming up within the next month and i dont want them to tell me theres a void ont he vehicle off to my question is there any where i can buy the stock e500 exhaust tip? and is it possible to just replace the tip by cutting off the one now and welding on the new one? i have no idea guys i just really need help and suggestions on what to do 2maro eh will tell me if he has the scraps of my old exhuast and hell weld it on i was thinking for him to weld it on and ten i would just put some bondo around the weld line as crappy as that sounds let it dry sand it off a bit and spray paint it a tad black so by one month driving it will match the rest of my dirty exhaust ;] i will attempt that just so the weld marks or the cut doesnt show i assume they wont think its bondo or spray paint because after a few weeks of driving it should match my dirty exhaust as it is again any suggestions please help
Welcome to the forum and congratulations.
You are the first one here, that takes his car to tree-shade mechanics.
PROFESSIONAL exhaust shop can manufacture almost anything and weld is as well as Germans do.
look as for the time being the exhaust is fine i kno this should be a lesson learned, BUT if anyone can please offer me with any suggestions... thats all i want to kno btw live free the bondo i have i forgot the name of it, but its the same oen i used for the rims on my car (the car was given to me from my mom as a present because i got my license) she had a few scuffs here and there and i fixed them very easy process you just need about a day for the paint to dry the bondo is actually instant and it been there fine on my rims since the only negative from the exhaust would b its heat... but i think it can stay on there pretty well again i am just asking for suggestions one more thing what pissed me off the MOST was wen i was there an S class 08' was getting tips installed and his were being down b4 mine began and i saw his job and it was such a good job mabe b.c. it was so ez to put them straight on b.c. the S has straight curve pipes not like the e which bend and curve... plz any suggestions ps- who ever would like the article on how to fix your rims scuffs i have it ti did an amazing cover up job and the site provides you w. the mercedes matching rim paint and where to buy it from :]
Pictures please, since I can't quite visualize this mess.

thankss for everything so far guys as for pictures i will put them up as soon as possible and usc im not using the bondo to hold im using the bondo to seal the cut after the part trimmed will b welded on s i can hide the cut incase mercedes looks there just a precaution
1. ALWAYS, ALWAYS, research the shop you let make repairs on your vehicle.
2. Bondo will burn right off once the exhaust comes up to temperature.
3. cheap option is to grind that crap down...but from the looks of it the person who did the welding hasn't been welding for very long. If you grind it you might find air pockets in the weld, that exposes a hole the weld didn't fill, and which will just open up with time.
4. Best bet is to get your car properly repaired by a reputable shop to its stock condition.
5. Next time do it right. Spend the money. Get stuff made for the car or from a tuner like Carlsson or Kliemann. They might be pricey but they are a lot less than the exhaust tips you just bought into.
Looks to me that we have a communication problem in this topic.
So Koko which part of "TAKE THE CAR TO PROFESSIONALS" you don't understand?
The tires need replacement.
