Hi guys, I just made the transition from VW to MB this weekend but I have a few nagging issues with the car. Hopefully, none to big.
The car is a 2003 E320
1. I cant get the AC to turn on. The fan blows but when I touch the "AC off" button, it just blinks off a few times and then stays lit.
2. Is there a way to adjust to what position the passenger side mirror moves to when in reverse.
3. How do I integrate a cell phone into the radio.
4. And the most important one, is there any website I can go to, so that I can download the manual for the car.
Sorry if I'm asking a lot for a first post, but the change from a Passat to a MB is a dramatic one and I need all the help I can get.
Hey, Bach, welcome aboard.
First things first...please take a minute to click the user cp link and complete your profile re: vehicle and location as that is generally useful information.
Second, you're now the proud owner of a W211, the newer line of the E class. If you scroll down in the forums you'll find the sedan section, and in there you'll see the W211 forum. If you post in there you'll get more responses and those will be more pointed towards your specific model. This general forum is just that, general topics all over the place.
The AC could just be low on refrigerant. These are fairly complex systems, so unless you're familiar with auto AC or with DIY stuff in particular it wouldn't hurt to take it in and have a proper diagnosis. If you're low on refrigerant, then there is a leak, so that has to be isolated and repaired as well.
The mirror, no, it moves in relation to where it was and then back. You can turn it on or off (from moving) but that's about it.
Good luck with the integration, the W211 folks may have more tips in there, in the 210 it's a pain. There is also an audio technical forum with lots of stuff in there, like integrating bluetooth modules, etc.
As to the manual, post the Q in the 211 forum, I know where some 210 manuals are but that won't help you.
Take care and enjoy the new ride,
Greg

You might get the manual when you register at MBUSA.com.
I did get mine, although the website glitch gave me one for the wagon. Still usable.
Welcome to the forum and MB club.
Proud former owner of 4 VW.
You may want to continue your search regarding where the passenger-side mirror moves to when you shift into reverse. I have a 2004 CLK320 (W209) and it does allow you to set the mirror to the position that you desire for when reversing. I do not remember the process; however, it is in the owner's manual and I programmed it when I purchased the car.
Your MB dealer can sell you a manual and you can also download one at mbusa.com (owners online).
The A/C problem is described in the owners manual and needs to be fixed at dealer.
You can indeed program the right mirror using steering wheel controls and the speedo display but it won't perform unless the button on the door is left selected to the right mirror. This feature by the way is IMHO worthless as watching your right rear tire is not too useful when reversing.
Read your phone installation manual here to determine whether your car already has the proper equipment. Your 2003 is "older generation" compared to 2005-on models and your only solution is installation of a bluetooth "puck" into the holder for the discontinued V60 phone. This solution will pair with lots of newer phones.
Speaking of "dramatic" if you're a DIY guy just wait 'til you discover all the help MBUSA provides Mercedes owners.
The complete parts system is online with free access (no pirated ETKA discs) and the complete service system is also online in two versions--either you purchase a DVD of the procedures relevant to your car or you subscribe online to see them for all Mercedes. Beats Bentley every which way.
thanx guys for all the great responses. i'll will get to each and every single one of those soon as i get home from work tomm. again, thanx to all of you.
