Changing trans fluid on '05 E500 - how to?
I've done a bunch of searches, seen some things for the earlier 5 speeds, but nothing specific to the 7 speeds.
My '05 E500 has 64K on it. I recently got it, and don't have the service history.
I'm thinking about changing the trans fluid. Anyone have a "how to" for that?

First off pull a fluid sample and have it analyzed, this will serve to let you know the next service interval. Then I would recomend taking it to the dealer for the replacement.
Because of all my city driving, I am having my E320's replaced every 26K based on fluid sampling. MB says every 39K FWIW.

Fluid change on the 7-sp is VERY difficult and best left to dealer.
Of course you could look it up in WIS, either by buying the service DVD or by subscribing for a day at startekinfo.com.
In addition, there is a new-spec fluid for the 7-speed, MB-APPROVAL 236.14
It's around $30 per liter.

There's no details on it anywhere on the net? No one has DIY'd a fluid change on a 7 speed yet?
