I have an 08 E350 and about 12,200 miles. I'm due for my first oil change at 13k miles. Yesterday, there I got a message when I turned of my car "check tire pressure" So I think its probably a flat tire due to a nail because tires don't just lose air. But I checked today, and the tires don't look flat and when I start and turn off my car, the message is gone. Has this ever happened to anyone before?
Also, do we have run-flat tires (18 inch sport package).
If you have NO spare tire in the trunk, you probably have 'run-flats'.
Judging tire pressure by looking at the tires is problematical at best. A couple of psi low is enough to cause the warning and I'd defy most people to tell which one by looking - even knowing one is low.
As usually it is easier to start forum topic, that get a pressure gauge and check the wheels
Good tires hold pressure for long time. I usually inflate our cars once a year, while commercial tires on my motorhome hold the pressure for the 3-rd year without adding.
Than I would double the recommendation of checking the pressure on cold wheels. Having add-on, self calibrating sensors it is quite common that when I calibrate the senors on warm wheels, I will have the alarm following cold morning.
My new 08 E320 is giving the same "check tire pressure" message almost every time I shut it off. My tire pressure is not low, if anything there are a couple of extra pounds in each one. I don't believe MB is equipping the E's with runflats. I'm certain I don't have them. I'm certain I don't want them!
