Post We drive taxi cabs??

I recently vacationed in Italy and Greece and was surprised to see a substantial number of E Class taxis. Here's a pic of a yellow cab in the parking lot below the Parthenon in Athens.

Who would know value of reliable, economical, good looking and long lasting car than a cabbie?
Are they rebuilding Acropol?

This has been discussed a few times already but E-class MBs are the most common taxi car in most European countries. There are C-class taxis as well as S-class taxis too but not as many as E-class. Of course other brands are used too but an E-class MB is the most common one.

E-class is by FAR the single most used taxi car in Europe. Almost on an exclusive basis. A C is just to small to put people in the back. An S is just too expensive.

You'll see a handful of 5 series (rare) and lately also Skoda or Toyota - I suppose those are "budget" taxis. Never took another taxi than a E.

Actually in Denmark they're quite nice: all sport packages (Avantgarde) in silver or black.

That's called traveling with style... :-)

As I brought my girlfriend (American) to Germany (I am from Germany) that was her first highlight at the airport to see all MB's as Taxis! Quote: "German's know how to use cabs. They don't ride in those crappy Fords!" :-)

The last taxi I rode in was an ugly old Dodge minivan. I wish they used E-classes in San Jose area.

I think they don't have European cars here in the US as Taxis, right?

Very rare, unless they are VW's.

You know you live in a third-world country from an automotive standpoint when the average taxicab in Germany is a better car than any made here for any purpose.
