Roof Rack Option for E320

I am interest to find out what options are available to add the roof rack for the Mercedes Benz E320 (2005) Sedan?

The purpose of the rack is to carry a Thule cargo box that I already have.

My questions are:

Q1. If I install the rack, would it be on the roof forever?

Q2. What choices are there, either Mercedes made or 3rd party?

Q3. I usually try to DIY so what would be your experience?

I asked the same question few days ago and it has no answer so far.
My 2005 model had about 1/4"x 1" flaps in the gutters with threaded holes in them. I assume MB makes custom rack for it, but haven't seen one.
Having no option of foldable seat, I am thinking about cutting a hole for carrying my skis inside. Still like 3 more months till first snow, so no hurry.
Now for cargo the car has humongous trunk. Much bigger than W210 that has fuel tank behind the seat. What exactly are you carrying?

Thule makes the rooftop carrier system for Benz. Your dealer can provide you with a catalog. You can also go to the website where you build your new car and look under accessories. This link if for building an E350.

My back seat does not fold either. I already have a cargo box by Thule that I use on a large SUV. The E320 trunk is large but is not as big as what we are used to in terms of having a SUV space.

Get a rack from a dealer.

Thule makes one, too, but does not export it to the USA.

I ordered ours from a UK rack store.

Obviously they are not permanently mounted.

That's a rack for a wagon.
Even if the mounting is the same system, the picture doesn't show it very well.

237 pages of options and accessories. WOW.
Roof racks are page 170's. I see the idea how they go on the roof even when detail is not shown. How much those racks cost at dealer? Having 4 universal racks, I hesitate to sink serious $$ into new , custom one.
