do all 06 E350 have some MBTex?

hi all,
might have found a car, finnally and looking for your advice.
Looking at a 06 E350 flint grey, charc with 26,500 on it,hoped to find one with less miles but not many around new england.Dealer wants $30,995 and its a CPO.He says it has the leather inserts but they all have the MB Tex on the sides of seats,is that true?It has heated seats but thats only other option sticker was 56,665 new.
Also asked about adding a wood/leather wheel if it could be done and how much more.
thanks for your input/advice

The 06 W211 E350 has Leather seating surfaces as standard..But One could either order leather and or a Designo package ..

Adding the Wood/Leather steering is a Easy Job..Yes It can be done

I Would shop around for another W211 with less miles and the options that you want

I'm no expert but here's what I know. If a Mercedes has the leather option it is a combination of MB-Tex and leather so the dealer is telling you the truth. A good general rule is if you touch a part frequently, it is leather. For example my car has a leather steering wheel, shift knob, seat inserts and top of the center console (armrest). The exception is the doors which have a gathered piece of leather but the actual pull is MB-Tex.

I don't know what the dealers charge for the wood/leather wheels but some members here have bought theirs from Performance Products – Performance Parts and Accessories. and seem satisfied with them.

Good Luck!

over in Ireland the cars come with MBtex , leather and napa lether . The MB tex cars have stretched MBtex on the door pannel inserts , the leather interior has gathered MBtex on the inserts and the napa lether has gathered leather on the inserts . All 3 have leather on the seat face , with MBtex used else where excpt the napa leather , it uses all leather .Since the cars face lift the MBtex interor uses no leather parts , and the leather Elegance cars have a flutted desgin on the seat fronts ( like the W124 ) .

In the USA the standard fit through was leather inserts on the front seat bottoms and back cushions only. The side bolsters, headreasts and entire back seat were MB-Tex (vinyl)
The optional full leather package added leather to all facing surfaces and the back seat, but the sides and back of the front seats ane headrests are still MB-Tex.

I just can't see buying a car for more than $50k and finding it has a taxi-cab interior designed by Chrysler.

Look at the door panels above the arm rest. If it's "gathered", you have the leather package. If it's smooth, you don't have the leather package but do have MB-Tex.

Incidentally, I've had both, and over the long run, I'd bet on the MB-Tex for durability. Besides, if one can't tell which one has other than by a window sticker or the clue given above, what's the point?

Thanks all,
when he went to go check the tires he found the car was sold, tried to move me to a 08 but they all where vinyl ("mb-tex") in the E350's,claimed he did a search and found all those in northeast come like that unless they move to the E500's.It does seem that unless it has the leather option ($1500) you get vinyl.he was ready to go to 48,000 for a 56 MSRP car but I know I am not spending 30-50k on car without leather even if I have to buy a Lexus !Thats pretty sad the don't come standard with leather.
The wood/leather wheel was anothe 750 plus an hr (@ attorney rates!)so it would cost another grand for that to be added at a dealer.

He did have a 05 E500(CPO w/17k on it for 31,900) with all leather but it had the the airmatic which I don't want.

Will keep looking, thanks for the responces

Another question, using Leather Conditioner wipes on Vinyl seats wont hurt anything will it? I just did my whole interior, looks good though.

Here's a Pic of my interior (pre Leather conditioned)::

Is it MB-Tex? Whatever it is, it feels great, and I guess I could make myself feel happy about the fact that I'm not sitting on Animal hide
