Possible to play MP3 cd's on 03 E320?

Hello all, i was wondering it is possible to upgrade the stock (non navi) headuinto on an 03 e320 and allow it to read MP3 cd's? i've read about the engineering menu and all the secret commands and what not, but i was unable to deiscover if this was possible or not. thanks in advance

Do you have the second single-CD drive right above your radio (in addition to the 6-CD drive below the radio)?

You may want to try a head unit software update with MBUSA Special Tool (service disc) #W211589122200 – dealer net $12. Some have reported that they could play MP3 CDs through the single disc player after updating.

Power up head unit
Press "Audio" hardkey
Insert service disc (will start automatically)
Head unit will power off and then restart
Eject disc

If this does not work I would suggest changing out the AUDIO50 (cassette) with a COMAND headunit or install a 6-disc MP3 CD changer.

i only have the single disc above the radio. no cd changer. can i get this cd from else where, such as an online download? or is it only available from dealer. also, do you know what other changes the update brings? thanks in advance (btw the link u sent is this same page over again)

I would suggest contacting a local dealer. Update was released to resolve a number of conditions including those listed below however; some reported the ability to play MP3s in the single disc player after updating.

- CD player does not retain correct track info played prior to shut down
- Display locks up or freezes in any mode, various keys do not work
- CD skips or hesitates
- CD track or audio station info mismatch between head unit and display/status line/instrument cluster
- Audio muted before ignition turn off, mute not retained upon restart

hi i have a 07 E bluetec and with non navi radio and it plays MP3
i did nothing to the radio,no upgrade

Use the navigation display softkey to see if you can choose ETA. If not, you do not have the update.
