You can figure out I am not new to MB issues from my post count, but I am new in "this section"
I won high mileage model above on ebay. I was checking this section for common problems and couldn't really find any posted here, what prompt me to the decision. I have 3 days for the crush course what to check on new purchase. I do own W210 and am familiar with OBDII testing as well as climate console error displays.
What and how I test on W211 ?
Thanks in advance.
Take it to the dealer and have them do a pre-purchase on it.
-Scan the systems for codes
-Complete service history
-Servicing that will be required to get the car back up to date (Brake fluid, transmission fluid, Differential, SBC check, A/C, Tires, Service bulletins, Recalls/updates)
Unless you have STAR you can't simply plug in and get anything meaningful from the OBD systems.
Wouldn't work for my 40' motorhome, or boat that with trailer need close to 30.
I've seen custom tall garages and custom carports for rigs like above, usually on trophy houses. The tall garages look like something you see at a fire station.
Being DIY I build a carport for my rig.
2 canopies from Costco at $129 each put together, some pipes from Home Depot to add 3 feet of elevation and it does good job. Roof tarps last for 3 seasons and I am due to replace one right now. Our area is not giving permits for big garages.
Funny thing happened to me with so many cars. The 3 MB we have in our household each have different key. The older sedan has beaten up 1-button remote with blade, ML 3-button remote with blade and newer sedan Smart Key. Presently our son is on vacation and his ML is parked here as well. Going shopping today I grab beaten up key and went to older sedan. The ignition in it needs some playing, so I tried it but after 10 minutes started to bi** at my wife who drove it lately for damaging everything she touch.
She offered to start the car for me.
So after getting in she told me "this son's car key".
Right now I am sitting on about 3" of $100 bills. Will fly tomorrow morning to pick up new ride. Will post some pictures in few days.
Just picked it up. The car interior is BRAND NEW. Dealer put new floor mats, but there is no sign of wear after holding somebody's a** for over 140k. The exterior has only 3 minimal paint scratch and not even dings.
As usually coming from dealers auction no manuals, no CD, no spare key. but after call to MBUSA they changed the ownership data, so I could register the car under my account and got manual in PDF. Have 6000 till next service and oil level OK, so I can plan 2300 miles trip home with no big worries.
When I press "NAVI" I am getting message that it is not available. Does it means I don't have the option, or just need CD?
Russian site doesn't recognize the VIN number. Is there any other way to pull the vehicle data on the net, that would show factory options?
BTW "golonka" (Polish will know) in Chicago is unbelivable.
