Service E

According to maintenance booklet (see attachment) it is mainly and oil and filter change, with lots of visual inspection at $120/h labor rate. E being the 5th the letter of the alphabet, it indicates that about 5h will be required to perform the service. Hope this helps.

Wow, so basically your saying that it's a $500+ oil change!

Damn, I'm due for an E service as well and I only have 33,000 miles.

Thumbs up

Change the oil and filter yourself and get to know your Mercedes!!!

It's not that hard if you use the oil suction extractor.. you can do it all from the top of the car dressed in your Tux (like James Bond).

Go look at the oil change threads here and there...

Good Luck ,,,

I'd love to do it myself except my vehicle is still under warranty and I can bet if I don't take it to the stealership for maintenance, they'll prolly say my warranty is null & void!
Once the warranty is over, I'll definitely be doing oil and brakes myself!

Post 60,000 miles or BUST!!!

OH.... you have an extended warranty? Or is it just about up?

The 60, 000 miles service is a major service... all the fluids in the car should be changed including the transmission. Spark plugs changed.

Your car has the SBC brakes so it requires an annual brake fluid change, otherwise the copper in the lines will cause problems with the SBC valves.

I don't know when the radiator service went to 140,000 miles, but it should be left alone unless there is a leak. Of course the air conditioning should be check for correct pressure and top off with R134a if low.

All the above will take about 5 hours on the average ... I don't think Lexus is more different. If you plan to keep the car, then the service is worth it... otherwise....

Good Luck...

Well, I just had the E service done to my car and the damage was $408. My MB rep said that there were some others things done too but was covered under the warranty. So I guess it could've been much more in costs. I know I have at least one more service before the warranty is up since I'm at 33k now.
