I have 11 months to go on my 2006 E350 4matic lease. (18K). Tires look ok for now with 30K miles, but I will need a set in few months.
Anyone have a very low mileage set of tires 245 45 17 for sale? If not, Tirerack will be getting an order from me soon.
Thanks,
Mark
If no one can provide you with low mileage used you may want to look into Pirelli PZero Nero tires. I have 8000 miles on my set and they are working out well. In comparison to the stock Conti Touring Contact the Pirellis are better in everyway except snow traction: Just as quiet, way better in the rain, and dry performance is better. I cannot comment on wear yet as I have not measured but I know I changed the Continental's because they got way to noisy before they wore out. The Conti's started to wear unevenly in the front so I put them on the back and it was still too annoying. I have not had the car aligned as the dealer said it did not need it so the Conti's did not wear unevenly due to alignment issues or not maintaining tire pressures. I highly recommend the Pirelli's.
Hope this helps
Jeff.

I have been through 3 sets of tires. For the $$ use the Conti's touring contact that came on the car for best results. The others may have lower cost but you won't like them...

I got the same size on my E except 18's, the make is Michelin, stay away from them, the sides walls are weak

Thank you for your thoughts. If I needed to go the new route, I might stay with the stock continentals. TireRack has the CH95 OEM tires for about $135 each which seems like the lowest cost option for new. I am still hopeful to find some low mileage tires to help me make it through the next 10.5 months!

What brands did you use with those 3 sets? Were they all Continentals?

I recently replaced set of Nexen N7000 (uni-directional W-rated) from my local GoodYear SVC center. They are $450 installed (cheap)
I found them much better grip, corner, traction compare to OEM Conti. ( Consider it rains a lot in WA state)
I wouldn't change to OEM Conti even if you pay me extra.
Of course, later I found they can be had for less than $350 shipped online. ( so I figure, $100 installation/ new valve/ life-time balance isn't too bad )

I've had similar experiences with the PZN's.
They're not bad, and can be had at a somewhat lower cost than Michelin's etc.
I initially changed the OEM ContiContact for Conti Extreme Contact. Traction, especially in snow improved drastically, but I can't believe I need to change them now, with merely 12 months and 15K miles on them. I am considering the Goodyear Eagle F1 All season. Anyone with experience on these? they are about $180 each.
