Does anyone know whether the older E-class wheel will fit my 06' E320 CDI? My wheel spec is 16" x 8" with 36mm offset. I don't seems to be able to find the older W211 wheel spec. Also, some thought the bolt size may be different. Any ideas? If it works, thinking to get a set for the winter tires. Thanks.
I've never measured W210 wheels (have had those in the past) but your 14 mm bolt from your W211 might not fit to the hole that has been made for a 12 mm bolt. Not sure if it would be safe to drill it bigger for the 14 mm bolts.
RAD USA makes custom lug bolts that go either way, so you can mount 211 wheels on a 210 or vice-versa. You'll have to determine your proper length (and RAD measures from the shank), but the bolt you would need will be an R12 ball seat and a 14mmx1.5 shaft (x the length in mm).
Sounds interesting, I've never heard of anything like this (perhaps forbidden in Europe, like any offset conversion parts). I did not figure out from their web how these work for the case where the wheel would have a boring for 12 mm bolts. I see there are two peace parts. I could think of an insert that makes the 14 mm thread into 12 mm but how would such an insert stay in place? Or are these still assuming a 14 mm boring for the bolts? Can you show some photos? Are these safe?
knowing what it takes to be able to use the W210 wheels on W211 car, I wouldn't do it... Too much trouble, added cost and probably not very safe... Thanks!
