Measuring transmission fluid level on a W211, E320CDI
Does anyone know how to measure transmission fluid level in a W211, E320 CDI?
There is a tube in the engine compartment with cover on it. There's no dip stick. The dealer sells a tool. The parts manager was not sure how it works. It costs $104. Does anyone know how it works? Thanks!
When you remove the cap on the tube, you must break a plastic clip.
Have replacement before hand.
WIS explains levels and this is in the Service DVD for W211, now available from Mercedes.
...... then I'll sell you some Genuine, still in the bag, never been used, set of five monogrammed " MB Dipstick cleaning cloths " - part # WECHEETUMNHOW for only $79.99, P/H included.
That must be one hell of a dipstick ... does it speak? give units of measure in micro-nanomililitres? I'd dedicate a tool drawer just for it ... move aside Snap-on!
.... just being a smart - $%#

Lear,
That's too funny, but kkau should check with AST tools as I remember them having a 722.9 tranny dipstick for around $40 (same thing for an oil dipstick).
Let me know when those $79.99 cleaning cloths come down to $50 !!!!!
That's funny - a $104 dipstick! When I talked the MB parts guy at the dealer, he made it sound like some tool to read. And i thought it was some electronic to plug into some sensor. I should have asked him to show me what it looked like...
Thanks, guys!
Now, anyone knows how to reset the transmission shift adaptation map? Something to have the transmission re-learn the shift pattern, I think...
