Just installed MB v60 phone kit in my 03 E320; also installed MB v60 Bluetooth adapter. The problem is that after successfully pairing Razr cell phone with the adapter, the radio will read “phone not installed” and I can’t make any calls from the radio and I can’t answer any incoming calls. But if I make a call using the Razr, the radio will mute, and I can speak and hear via the hands free system; can also view the phone book. After all calls have ended, it’s back to “phone not installed” same thing happens for incoming calls. I can hear the incoming calls ringing through the car speakers, but to answer the call, I have to use the cell phone, and then the call is transferred to the hands free system. Its like incoming and outgoing calls have to be initiated with the cell phone and then via hands free system.
Well, fixed the problem I was having with the Bluetooth and hands free system. When I took it to the dealer last week they were pretty much stumped by what was going on. One service rep even claimed that the Bluetooth adapter might be the problem being that Mercedes doesn’t make a Bluetooth adapter for the V60 cradle. Needless to say he felt kind of stupid when I told him that I bought the adapter at his dealership from his parts department. Anyway, they kept the car for the day, but to no avail. Checked version coding, checked all related components, even put a V60 phone in the cradle but Audio 50 still would no recognize the phone. So they came to the conclusion that it was a defective cradle; changed the cradle same problem. So I did some research using the MB WIS CD and found a possible solution to my problem. Software update! Went back to the dealer updated AGW to the latest software also rechecked version coding. Phone still didn’t work. So I went home got my MB V600 phone, managed to make a connection with the V60 cradle, and the phone worked everything worked. Reinserted the Bluetooth adapter, no problems everything works as it’s supposed to. I can now view the phone book, dial and receive calls using Audio 50 and my RAZR.
Could you tell me all the parts you you need to get for this to work. In the process of ordering my Razr phone. Would like the grocery list of products I need to search\buy.
Also do I need to have a v60 1st to make the connection or can I use a new Razr, and will it work with the Bluetooth adapter.
You’re going to need the V60 cradle short coil-cord # Q6820833 or Q6820899 Compensator # Q6820832 which I got used on eBay.
No, you shouldn’t need a V60 phone, the Bluetooth adapter and the Razr should work fine. You may also need version coding and maybe software update for the Audio Gateway (AGW) at the dealer. I have the MB phone installation instructions for 2003-2004 E Class if you want, let me know.

Just a question: Why would the compensator be needed if the intention is only to use the BT puck? I understand that a complete set needs this to enable a cradle connection. Also Steve has mentioned that the compensator can be left out even for the basic installation (done that for retrofit installations). I can imagine this can have marginal loss for 1900 MHz operation but no real loss for 850 MHz, if you just bypass the compensator.

So all I need is 2 parts: either # Q6820833 or Q6820899 and then the Q6820832. Are all these parts avaible on ebay?
Would the dealer do the SW update if requested or do I need to be specific.
Would really appreciate it if you could send me the install guide.
“The compensator is used to "compensate" for the small amount of power that is lost as a result of the extra RF cable needed to send or receive the signal through the vehicles antenna. The compensator is not a booster when in digital or analog modes”
MERCEDES BENZ TELEPHONE MANUAL
Diesel Benz is probable right about the compensator; you might not need it being that you’re using the Bluetooth adapter which doesn’t have a connection for the antenna. I would get only the cradle from the dealer or eBay if you can find it, version code, and ask the dealer to check and update the AGW if needed. You also want to get the Holder # Q 682 0768 which is screwed down inside the armrest and then the cradle sits in the holder

What is the differnce between the V60 cradle short coil-cord # Q6820833 or Q6820899 and the Q6820724?
I have S600 2001. It has Motorola TimePort (Silver). I want to upgrade to bluetooth, what parts do I need. Just a short coil cradle for V60 and compensator or do I need to get something different. Thanks in advance.
