Front axle-wheel location:4-link suspension,integral support frame,anti-dive control
Suspension:coil springs,gas pressure shock absorbers,stabiliser.
Rear axle-wheel location:MB multi-link independent rear suspension,anti-squat/anti-lift.
Suspension:coil springs, gas pressure shock absorbers, stabiliser. There is a difference at the 4-matic models in the front axle-wheel locationual wishbone front suspension, integral support frame,anti-dive control.
Hi, I find this statement odd. Perhaps there are other aspects that the buyers of W211 feel important which are not important for buyers of other cars but I would expect most W211 buyers considering good handling a must.
And the W211 often does not have coil springs but airmatic instead.
Why should the TC get activated with this setup more than on others? I don't see a different setup providing significantly better tyre grip. E55 of course would need TC more than the smaller enginges but that is a different issue. By the way, even the E320CDI needs traction control on a dry road at standing start (gear ratio and relatively high power at low engine rpm).
Don't car about handling? Are you kidding me? IF I wanted a Boat, and would have bought a Town Car.
Of course we care about handling. Personally I care more about that and engine performance more that most of the cute shit I have inside the car.
But to answer you question, here's am excerp from the MBUSA specifications page.
Front suspension Independent 4-link or double wishbone with 4MATICâ„¢ models. Antidive geometry. Stabilizer bar.
Rear suspension Independent 5-arm multilink with aluminum links and wheel-hub carriers, and geometry for antisquat and alignment control. Stabilizer bar.
Steel spring system Front coil springs over gas-pressurized monotube shock absorbers. Separate rear coil springs and gas-pressurized monotube shock absorbers.
Steering type Rack-and-pinion with vehicle-speed-sensitive power assist and integrated hydraulic damper.
Turning circle 37.4 ft/11.4 m curb-to-curb.
And regarding TC, find an E that you can't turn off the ESP button, punch it and break rubber, and I'll show you an E that needs to be serviced!![8D]
What makes the suspension of this car more interesting is when you remove the US Spec. factory springs.
I have Eibach springs, 19X8.5 front, and 19X9.5 Rear and virtually NO body roll at all. How about that for a luxury sedan...
