Thinking about buying a E500 for $55,800, is it a good deal?
I am considering getting a silver 2005 E500 with only 800 miles on it. It has the AMG sport package, lighting package, and sunroof package. I tried looking in edmunds.com and kelly bluebook and it does not list 2005 models for Mercedes. What do you guys think? TIA. [:)]

With the exception of the AMG sport package, the price you are quoting seems pretty close to retail for a brand new '05 E500. Does it have any other features beyond what you listed? Like NAV or Harmon Kardon Sound? How about ParkTronic Etc.?
There may be a bunch of stuff that you think is a standard feature but in fact is an upgraded feature. It appears that you are a current Mercedes owner, so you are probably already aware that almost every feature in these cars is "Al La Carte". You should get an invoice from the dealership (or copy of the sticker if this is from an individual) and then just go on the MBUSA site and add up the price of the included options to see how this compares to the price you are being quoted.
Also, remember that the "AMG Sport Package" on an E500 (which I think costs around $5k as an option) just makes your car "look" like an AMG (i.e. extremely cool): it is not actually a true AMG vehicle. A true AMG would have the model number E55 (and seriously more horsepower etc.).

I am not sure about all the options just yet. I am going to go see the car this morning. However, the MSRP sticker was in the glove box and it was over $68K. The car looks great, but I am taking into consideration that not may people are willing to spend $4900 on the AMG sport package for ground effects and suspension. Do you still think it's a good deal?

If the car is brand new with only delivery miles, I would say it's a good deal. I see you already list an E500 in your signature. Are you planning to purchase a second E500?

No, I have it on my signature because I just bought it yesterday for $55,000. It's not delivery miles, I am the second owner. Do you still think I got a good deal? [:)]
