iPOD integration 2005 E320

After integrating my iPOD into my Range Rover it was hard to sell for the E320. That said, I have read contrasting reports on the ability to use the iPOD with the stock COMMAND unit. Here is my question...

1) Can you use the AUX jack in the glove box to connect your iPOD? If so, what information is displayed on the COMMAND during playback? Can you use steering wheel controls?

The answers, based on what I've read and not personal knowledge, are "yes", "none" and "no, except for volume" with an E320. It's only with some BMW models that the answers are "yes", "limited data" and "yes, for tracks and volume"

in 2003 E500 the AUX port is not usable with iPod. Sound quality is low, as one has to use 90% of the volume to hear anything.

I plug the iPod in the AUX input and the sound is really good.

Where is this aux input everyone is talking about? (03 E 500) I looked in my glove box and didn't find it. Help and thanks

It sounds like you have a 2005 with and AUX jack in the glove compartment so this OEM kit from Mercedes should work.

Found it in top center of glovebox. Unmarked, hard to see given space and light. Worked fine with my XM Radio MYFI. On COMAND, go to Radio screen and select AUX in lieu of FM or AM.

Trying temporary install at drawer to the left of glovebox. 3 ft AUX wire, antenna wire, and battery power to holder affixed to stickon stand somewhat nested in drawer. OK for temporary and will see after a few trips with spouse.
