I'm due to take delivery of a new UK E320 CDi Avantgarde Estate next month (woohoo!). I didn't order a cd changer (regretting it already)as I want to get an Ipod and connect it to the car. Not sure if this is possible though, unless via the FM transmitter route. The UK standard stereo on the W211 is a single slot cd with no tape player. Does anyone know if there is an Aux input in the glovebox or anywhere else where I can connect the Ipod to the car?
Thanks. No COMAND, unfortunately. I don't know whether there's an aux button or point with the standard stereo. I've heard the FM adapters for Ipods can be a bit crackly (plus they're actually illegal in the UK, although I'm not that bothered about that :)
Apple sells two Belkin add-ons for this: an "Auto Kit" for iPods with Dock Connect, and a "TuneCast Mobile FM Transmitter". The former keeps your iPod charged and provides an amplifier that links through the FM Transmitter to an available station in your radio. I've yet to connect mine, but I've been told it works well -- and a lot better than my explanation.
