Busy again . ok this time I wanted to get rid of the silver dots b/c honestly mine were fading in patches and it looked very ugly to be honest. The removal was actually extremely easy, all you had to do is get a bottle of windex, spray & wipe. its that simple. the silver comes right of. you can still see where the dots were b/c there are little black opaque dots but honestly i really like the look, looks more than CF than it did before. and also now it matches tint which was key for me.
Very nice My driver's side pillar trim pieces are the same way...faded and discolored. The passenger side is perfect. I was going to order new driver's side trim from www.mercedesshop.com at around $38 each, but after seeing yours, I may just take the dots off. So you just rubbed them off with a cotton cloth and Windex??? If you want the plastic trim on your car to really stand out, get some Novus1 or Plexus polish and do all of the exterior plastic and trim. For the black rubber and tires, use Mother's Back-to-Black. I did this to my E55 last night and will post some pics later. Haven't even clayed, touched up, or polished this car yet and it already looks brand new

yup, windex takes them right out. the dots themselves will probably come out with claybar if you really wanted to but i left the textured dots but just took the silver out of them, honestly i think it looks much better and the best part.... its free .
How the *&#@! did you get the silver dots off with Windex? I tried this without any luck. How long did each pannel take time wise? I must had rubbed those things for 1/2 hour without maybe a little paint came off. I used windex on a cotton shop rag. Did you use a buffer? Thanks
another technique is to use normal wax. Apply wax (like mequires carnuba), let the wax dry to a haze for alittle bit, then buff out the wax w/ microfiber towel and the dots should come right off with the wax. Thats another technique, i guess my protective layer was already so worn that the windex did the job in about 5 min. 01 may have used a better protective layer than the 00s, not 100% sure. hope that helps dawson
i don't understand how simple windex or wax can take the dots off. i have used those products a million times when cleaning and yet mine are still on there. but i like mine, so i want to keep them. mine are not faded at all... i like them b/c it signifies that this car is an E55... diff from others. maybe thats just me...

Pm for details... thanks!
perhaps my car was kept out doors most of its life, thats why it was much easier, there must be a clear coat protectant on them of some kind but i guess mine was easier than most. usually the dried wax method should work. I agree they look great stock IF not faded, but once they start fading it looks really ugly
