Side marker light replacement - challenged

Folks,

It appears our E55's are slightly different than the standard W210 for this procedure.

The manual shows a small access door inside the wheel well for getting to the side marker light. Mine does not have that. However, it does have a small door, facing the pavement, near the fender in the plastic tray underneath.

I've tried going through that, it seems there is a small metal bracket in the way, blocking the socket.

Do I need to remove the tire and wheel, then the plastic inner fender for access?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Are you looking to change a bulb or replace the whole assembly?

I had to change one of these bulbs...it was as simple as sliding the lens, and it pops out.

Just pry the lense off with a small screwdriver. I used a rag to avoid scratching the paint. The lense pops off with very little pressure. Easy access to the bulb, and a five minute DIY to replace the lense. Good luck.

HG and ruBenz,

Thanks !! I knew it had to be fairly simple.

I thought it may be through the lens but didn't want to get overly aggressive.

Thanks also for the quick reply.

Take care.
