I have a 1999 E55 AMG and the rear tire cracked today. I intent to get a set of new tires. From the owner's manual, the size of the tires with the original AMG wheels are as follows:
Front: 235/40ZR18
Rear: 265/35ZR18
However, I've searched for my vehicle on Tire Rack and they have the following:
Front: 245/40ZR18
Rear: 275/35ZR18
Which spec. should I follow?
Also, what tires would you guys recommend? I'm looking for a quiet and comfortable ride, and I drive my car in the city and highways with speed limits of 110km/hr. No track day for me. The place I live has a lot of rain but no snow. Which tire gives the best value for the money?

Tires would be personal preference with Michelin PS2 on top of the list and Nexen 3000 on the bottom of the list. Or nearly $300 per tire or $400 for four tires. Guess which one I ordered. Good luck.
So far Joe55 is very happy with his Nittos, I think they are lots cheaper if that is a concern.

So far the cheapest option is Sonar. Im from manila and the road conditions here are one of the worst in the world... But hey, I've had them for three years now and I have no complaints
I've finally settled on a set of Goodyear Eagle LS2000 Hybrid II tires. I know the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 are nice, but they are more than 2 times the price of the Goodyears, so I went for the Goodyears. I'm quite satisfied with the Goodyears, and it made the car quieter and more comfortable than before. As I lean towards more comfort on driving the E55 AMG, I guess those tires are good enough for me.
