I recently had an accident that caused the body shop to replace the driver side door. In the process of doing that, they had to obviously disconnect and reconnect the driver side air bag in the door. Now the SRS light stays on. I tried to read faults through an OBDII connector and got none - no faults found. How do I reset the SRS light?
This is from the X connector under the hood ONLY ..
A good indy will do it 4 free, it is really easy and fast.
Or if you have the adapter you can isolate the pin in that connector and diy.
OBTW - In this car, when you correct the fault the light will go off.... except....If your car has been in a wreck, all bets are off, you need the codes read, PERIOD!

On a 2000 W210 the SRS can ONLY be reset Via the OBD2 connection UNDER THE DASH on the drivers side...EARLY W210s Used the 21 Pin Connection inside the fuse box
Any time the SRS light is on it must be reset via The SDS or a Decent scan tool
I already tried to read the codes using an Actron OBDII scan tool connected to the outlet under the dash on the driver side. It did not read any faults. An earlier reply mentioned that the fault can only be read, and therefore reset, using the connection in the trunk. Which one is it? How can I do it myself if I only had the under-the-dash scanner?
Mark- What is the SDS? Is the Actron OBDII scan tool capable of doing this. If so, how?
If the only choice is to visit the dealer or the mechanic equipped with the under the hood tool, I'll do it. But I want to make sure that I give it a try myself first!
I took the car this morning to an independent MB mechanic and he was able to reset the SRS light from the connector in the fuse box under the engine hood. He didn't charge me anything. He said that the body shop must have unplugged and re-plugged the air bag cable while the car was on at some point during this process, or at least the key was in position 2.
If you correct the fault, the light will go off by itself,, UNless it has been in an accident ( or tampered with ).
Again, have the codes read, most will do it for free, that will tell u exactly what the fault is, then diy and fix it.
