My car was for sale for 16,000 and someone offerd me $14,500 because he said he looked at the Edmunds True Market Value price and it said 14,600? It takes off 900 dollars for 100k miles.
NADA, which in my experience is what banks, credit unions and lending institutions use says $16,475 for LOW. Just 6 months ago my bank was willing to lend me $18,900 which is similar to the current NADA clean retail. The car still has over 1 year before no one will lend money for it.
What do you think sell at $14,500 or wait it out.
1999 E55 black, 99100 miles, new brakes, new tires, absolutley nothing wrong, i mean nothing, 100k service done. up-graded stereo. upgraded wheels and lights. I just cant see how its only worth $14,500.

Well, here in NorCA, I have managed to locate two 2000 W210 E55s with less mileage for $16K/$19k obo. But this one takes the cake: 2001 Mercedes E55 AMG, 69k miles
If you wait it out, you will probably fetch $16K. If you seek a quick sale, take the $14.5K. Good luck.

Given where he is, and how competitive our market is -- comparatively speaking, of course -- he's unlikely to see that kind of money even if he waits it out. And the longer he waits the more the car drops in value.
Mine is not an AMG, of course, but when I bought it (used) the market around me was 30-32K for the same car and I bought it for roughly a third less by traveling to a less-competitive market (Denver).
With the economy, used cars are pretty soft right now and the E55 has lost some of it's sheen with the release of the E63, just the nature of things. NADA and KBB seem to be a little less accurate with MBs than Edmunds (based on what the cars actually sell for).
Two things are generally true in this realm: First, we always value our used cars higher than others and second, with the rarest of exceptions, cars are not an investment.
Good luck, Andy.
Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg

I just bought it, but I hate my job, so im quitting and getting a better job, Im going to sell my house to live in a trailer. Im selling my mercedes to get a dodge neon or something. and im going to save my money until i can afford to open my own business or franchise or something. 70,000 a year is just not enough money to live on any more.

get a geo metro with 13" rims it's cheaper...btw, did she took all your savings?
agree with with "Supercharged SEC" I am been looking for E55 01-02 for 5 months already, and the price is going down. but there is a hope that with lowering an interest rate and tax returns people will start buyin again. 9 years old E55 runs around 15-16k

Bottom Line:
Something is only worth what people are willing to pay.

I am so envious of the car prices you have.
In Australia, a typical 1999 E55 AMG still commands atleast $50K AUD plus.
