Anyone know what the stock lighting set-up is for a 2001 E55?

Hello, Are the stock lights (headlights, foglights)halogen or HID on a 2001 E55? I have one light that has an orange tinge to it and the other is bright white. Any info (cost to fix) would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Brian

Welcome to the AMG Board Brian!

Our stock headlights are HID 4300K and the foglights are just regular H3's lights. Looks like one of your HID is started to go bad. To fix the problem is to remove and replace not just the bad ones but both at the same time, as for the parts (HID bulb) it's all depends what brand ie; Bosch, Phillips...etc your going to buy and also since you're going to change those might as well get atleast 6000K rating, they are much brighter compare to the OEM 43000K we have.

Good luck,
JOE55

yup, yours are about to die out soon. mine did the same. do not go to the dealer, they are a rip off for ONE bulb. charged me $120!!! i got one off ebay, shipped for 40, works great still for 1yr!
i also do agree, go to a 6000K rating bulb, a lil bluer, it will look a lot nicer!

Thanks Guys

Thanks for the responses guys.Your information has been very helpful and informative. I appreciate the warm welcome as well. I have made just a few posts (all whining for help..LOL) and everyone here has just been cooler than the other side of the pillow. I want to especially thank "Hyder" for sending me a button that I am missing on my stock radio. Regards, Brian

Joey,

Is your HID's still stock or did you already replace them with aftermarket ones? If so what brand aftermarket are you using? Brightness(6000k, etc..)? Least expensive place to buy it.

I'm looking to upgrade my fogs to 6000k. Saw the 8000k and it's a little too blue-ish for me.

thanks

James I did upgarde mine to 6000K I believe it's by Phillips it's definitely look better than the stock ones we have 4300K also the higher kelvin you go ie; 8000K the more blueish and the more dim, so IMO 6000K is perfect.

^^ Where'd you buy it? How much and how long have you had it? For installation do you have to remove the bumper? Local shop here says he can get it installed for $300.00. Not sure what brand he was referring to. Is the price sounds about right? I'll call you later this morning.
