Should I get a transmission flush?

I know there's a couple of threads about this already, but none of them really had any worthwhile results posted. My car has about 56,000 miles on it, which is about the mileage that you would get a normal automatic flushed. I know that these cars have 'lifetime fluid' but from what I've seen when an auto manufacturer says lifetime that means after 100k miles you're SOL.

Has anyone here had a flush and fill performed on their E55? Did it make the car shift strangely? I would like for my transmission to last for more than 100k if possible.

A well maintained transmission will always outlive a well maintained engine. I had mine drained and refilled at 40K. She shifts beautifully. Do it. Your vehicle will thank you.

I had my AT oil & filter change by MBZ dealer. charge me about $360 for the job. They told me they use synthetic oil but I think they are full of crap!! I looked up the part number they used and it just reg MBZ ATF oil. I told them but they kept saying it synthetic oil

Transmission shift a little smoother. I didn't notice much different. but still need to be replaced, nothing is "life time"

Yes replace the trans fluid. MB trans fluid is synthetic! If you are using a flush oil system in your trans and not a drain do not do it. Have filter changed and drain cooling lines you will only get about 6 QT out this way. In 10,000 miles drain at trans pan plug 3 QT. or keep draining oil until it looks very red in color. After I drained and replaced filter trans worked just as before GREAT I did change at 40,000 miles. I will drain pan plug and top off at 60,000. Enjoy

Yes, that would be good to know. Should I just drain and refill this myself instead of getting it fully flushed?

Only if you are experienced. There is no room for error. I have the experience, and I still let the dealer do it.
