I have a 2000 E55 witch I need another motor for. I was looking at buying a 2003 E55 motor to go in my car. My question is will the 2003 fit into my 2000?
I'd imagine it would but it would be cheaper to just trade your car in on a 2003 or later E55 than to spend the money on a mod like this. Unless, your motor is blown?
I think the conversion would be very difficult since you would need to modify the engine and trans computer to accept the new engine. It would probably be easier and cheaper to swap in a twin-turbo LS1 engine and GM tranny with aftermarket EFI system.
Yeah! my motor is blown I saw a 2003 E55 motor for sale much cheaper than the 2000 E55 motor that I have seen online or out here in California. Thanks for the reply
yes they are the same M113 engine just one has a supercharger sitting on top and it shouldn't be any wider than the stock one so I don't see why not. I bet mounting pounts are even identical. as far as engine conversions go thats about as simple as it gets. If you can get it cheap WITH all the electronics (KEY! most don't come w/ electronics) then ya its worth while.
If I remember correctly that is the year that the 211 S/C E started. If so we are talking about the same M113 but there is alot more to it than that. I would find another N/A M113 to use. This way you don't have to mess with electronics.
First thing is that I've been told the M113 from the 211 cars has a more robust bottom end due to the S/C being factory installed. This is a good thing as it makes for a stronger motor. However, is the CR gonna be the same? Will the E55K motor accept the intake manifold from an N/A car? Are the heads the same? Remember, the E55K motors have the supercharger mounted on top with the coolers where your current motor has it's intake mani. So even though the bottom end is essentually the same I think there are many little details that would not be worth working around when you can get a N/A 5.5 and use it as a true plug and play.
If you are considering swapping the 55K motor and keeping the factory SC your in for alot of work and headache.......
Lastly, if anyone does know about the E55K "bottom end only" being swappable into the previous M113 cars I would love to know. I've gotten very "ahh not sure" answers on this. A 5.5L with beefed up internals is exactly what my car needs.
....If I were you I would wait around for an N/A 55 from the E or S.
I was in an accident front end damage...it's not really blown I have a cracked cynlider head and some scratches in the pistion cynlider walls. Have been told that I need another engine.
Install the newer S/C motor same bolt up as your current one. Reprogram the ECU computer using Kleemann, Now you will pay for this$$$ but if your keeping the car then do it. It's worth the effort to add a S/C to your car MORE POWER! and you don't have to buy a newer E55. Search the net you will find help out there. Call the aftermarket tuners Renntech, etc. There is lots of help if you have the money.

A few people have tried this and it a boat load of work. No where near plug and play operation. I also wouldn't be surprised if kleemann/renntech wouldn't bother with the programing. They understandably like to tune their own products only. Last closing statement I read on the OEM S/C engine swaps was that it is easier and mosty likely cheaper to keep the N/A motors in and simply aftermarket S/C them.
Not trying to disagree, but for a member who isn't a seasoned pro at the MB systems I would recomend replacing the motor with its direct replacement. I would then go aftermarket if an S/C is needed.
