Most expensive CATs in the world?

Hi guys,

Just wanted to let you know that the dealers in the US are not the only ones with high prices.

A few weeks ago the primary cat on the right side of my 98 E55 started to rattle. I took the car to the dealer and they quoted me 370.000ISK (icelandic kronur) for a replacement for each side, not including labor. For those of you that don't know the exchange rate that's 6.000USD for each side for a total of 12.000USD for replacing both cats.

So, right now the car is in a local exhaust repair shop getting universal cats welded in place. I also decided to have the secondary cats removed at the same time to get a nicer exhaust note. I'm picking the car up in about an hour, I'll let you know how it sounds

That conversion doesn't sound right at all.

1 Iceland Kronur = 0.02 US Dollar

So 370.000 Iceland Kronur = 5.96 USD

Yepp you're right, what I meant to say was 370,000 (as in 370 thousand) ISK which is 6,000 (6 thousand) USD (actually 6,065 USD using todays exchange rate)
