Hey, fellow 210-ers (and other MB owners in the area).
A few of us (names withheld to protect the guilty) have been trying to put together an informal get together and it seems we have at least a handful that are interested for July 28th, a week from this Saturday. If it's a mostly sunny day we're thinking of someplace around the center of this shot:
Google Maps
...since the background would make for some great pictures. Of course if it's windy the salt spray would make for some great wash opportunities when you get back home.
We're thinking either before lunch or after lunch, whichever will potentially draw the most folks. Before might be good if we want to all have lunch someplace.
This beach area is pretty easily accessible from I-280, the John Daly Blvd west to Skyline, then travel north and cut left to the Great Highway, which parallels the beach. Just pass Lincoln Highway the parking lot is on your left. Excellent vistas up and down the area, the Cliffhouse restaurant is just north on Point Lobos before Point Lobos curves east towards the City and the Golden Gate Bridge. In the East Bay, at least from most points north of Pleasanton, it should be no more than 45 minutes, traffic dependent of course.
At this point we're not trying to do anything formal such as an organized drive, etc., just a chance for some of us to put names to faces and share our common joys (and sometimes pains) with these wonderful automobiles. I've got at least one 208 owner -- and an E55 driver known to most of you -- who will be joining us as well. If this plays well we'll consider some scenic drives (heck, just up and down the Great Highway is stunning) and perhaps at least one of these kind of things every couple or three months.
Please respond in this thread if you think you can attend, and whether before lunch or after lunch would be better. If you want more info, post in here as well.
Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg
